At Combe Home Care, we’re proud of the local team who make our service possible. Our carers bring different personalities, backgrounds and experiences, but they share something important — a desire to make a positive difference to the people they support.
We know that inviting somebody into your home requires trust. That’s why we take recruitment, training and ongoing support seriously, while also looking for something that can’t always be taught: kindness, patience and a genuine interest in people.
Our aim isn’t simply to find people who can carry out care tasks. We want carers who will take the time to get to know the person they’re supporting, build relationships and understand the little things that matter to them.
Meet our care leadership team
Kerry Turton — Registered Manager
As Registered Manager, Kerry leads the care side of Combe Home Care and brings many years of experience across different areas of health and social care. Having started in care as a teenager, she has worked as a carer, team leader, deputy manager and registered manager, as well as working in specialist care, care consultancy and as an NVQ Assessor.
Kerry remains closely involved in the day-to-day service and has always believed that good care starts with the individual — their needs, choices, wellbeing and the life they want to lead.
Tanya Pincombe — Deputy Manager
Tanya has worked alongside Kerry in care for many years and has been part of Combe Home Care from the very beginning. As Deputy Manager, she works closely with Kerry and our care team to support the day-to-day delivery of care and the people who rely on us.
Her experience, knowledge of our service users and long-standing relationship with our team make her an important part of the continuity and personal approach we value at Combe Home Care.
Choosing the right people
Skills can be taught. Kindness, compassion and the right attitude come from the person.
When we recruit at Combe Home Care, we’re looking for people who genuinely care about others. Previous care experience can be valuable, but just as important to us are someone’s values, personality and their reasons for wanting to work in care.
We want people who will treat those they support with dignity and respect, who will listen, notice the little things and understand that they are entering someone’s home and becoming an important part of their everyday life.
Our recruitment process helps us make sure that the people joining our team are suitable for the responsibility that comes with providing care and support.

We believe that looking after our staff helps them provide the best possible care to others.
Care can be incredibly rewarding, but we also recognise the responsibility and demands that come with the job. We do our best to create a workplace where people feel valued, supported and able to develop.
We invest in training and ongoing development, aim to provide fair and reasonable pay, and offer benefits including health insurance to support the wellbeing of our team.
We also understand that our staff have families, responsibilities and lives outside of work. As a family-run business ourselves, we try to listen, be approachable and support our team wherever we reasonably can.

In 2023, Combe Home Care received the Best Employer Award at the Business Action North Devon Business Awards, recognising an area that matters enormously to us — supporting and valuing the people who provide care.
In 2024, we were also named Home Care Provider of the Year at the Prestige Awards, recognition of the service provided by our whole team and their commitment to the people we support.
Awards aren’t why we do what we do, but we’re incredibly proud of them because they reflect the hard work, compassion and commitment of the people who make Combe Home Care what it is.
