A local family business
Combe Home Care was founded in Ilfracombe in 2018 by Kerry and Dan Turton with a simple aim — to provide the kind of care we would want for our own family.
Kerry has more than 20 years’ experience working in care and has spent much of her career supporting older people and people living with dementia. Her experience ranges from hands-on care through to management, training and assessing care qualifications.
Today, Combe Home Care remains a local, family-run business with the same values at its heart: treating people as individuals, respecting their choices and helping them live as independently as possible in their own homes.

Great care starts with great people. Our local team is at the heart of Combe Home Care.
We carefully recruit people who share our values and support them with training, development and ongoing supervision, helping them to provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care.
Many of our team live locally, and we believe continuity matters. Building trusted relationships means getting to know the people we support — their routines, preferences, interests and the things that are important to them.

Good care depends on good communication, accurate information and knowing that the right support is being provided at the right time.
At Combe Home Care, we use Birdie, a digital care management system, to support our care planning and recording. Our carers can securely record care information during visits, helping our office team to keep up to date with the care being provided.
Care plans and records can be updated as people’s needs change, while authorised family members can also be given access to appropriate information about their loved one’s care.
The information recorded through Birdie also supports our quality monitoring, helping us identify changes, review the care we provide and maintain effective oversight of our service.

Combe Home Care is proudly based in Ilfracombe, providing care and support across the surrounding communities of North Devon.
Our home is Ilfracombe, but our care team supports people across the surrounding area, including Woolacombe, Braunton, Combe Martin, East Down, West Down and Kentisbury, as well as the communities in between.
The name Combe Home Care reflects the area we call home, with much of our work centred around the three local “Combes” — Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Woolacombe.
Being locally based helps us build strong relationships, provide continuity of care and respond to the individual needs of the people and families we support.
Our usual service area isn’t a rigid boundary. Where circumstances allow, we’re always happy to discuss providing care a little further afield.
Visiting North Devon?
Care doesn’t have to stop when you’re away from home.
We can also provide one-off or short-term care for visitors to the area. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a wedding, enjoying a holiday or staying locally for another special occasion, we may be able to arrange care and support during your stay.
