Training, support & development
We don’t expect someone to walk through our door knowing everything about care. What matters is having the right values and a willingness to learn.
Everyone joining Combe Home Care goes through our recruitment process, including an application, face-to-face interview, appropriate references and DBS checks before they begin providing care.
Once they’re ready to start, new carers spend time shadowing experienced members of our team. We don’t want someone to feel they have been trained and then simply sent out on their own — shadowing gives them the opportunity to learn how we work, get to know the role and build their confidence alongside experienced colleagues.
Training continues throughout someone’s time with us. We regularly train, review and support our staff across important areas of care, including safeguarding, medication, moving and handling, dementia awareness, first aid and other training relevant to their role and the people they support.
Learning doesn’t have to stop there. Where members of our team want to develop further, we encourage and support them to continue learning and develop their career in care.
